A Levels: Another success story for Lingfield College

Students at Lingfield College celebrated their excellent A Level results and despite the increasingly rigorous nature of A Level courses which are reforming into terminal examination assessment at the end of two year’s study, over 30% of students received the top grades of A*- A in all of their subjects.

The success of the students has ensured that a majority of them have gained their first choice places at the country’s top universities.

Headmaster Richard Bool said, ‘We are once again delighted with our results. It is very satisfying that a vast majority of our students have secured the university course of their choice. This year many of our students have also secured places on competitive degree apprenticeship schemes with companies such as Nestle – Kate St Clair Alcock (A*A*A) and Pearsons – Head Boy, Jordan Kemp (A*AA).’

Head of Sixth Form, Alison Folkard remarked, ‘I would like to congratulate all our students on their success. I am very proud that Lingfield students are able to pursue their talents and interests at university level in subjects as diverse as International Relations with Politics, Electronic Engineering with Nano Technology, Accounting and Finance, Physics with Nuclear Astrophysics, Graphic Design and Commercial Marketing with Advertising. These opportunities are the result of our outstanding teaching, pastoral care and career guidance. Our dedicated and hard-working students have also received great support from their parents.’

Among the top performers is Millie Hopkins who achieved 4 A* (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics). Millie will be reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Ryan Fincham with 3 A* (English, Economics and History). Ryan is heading to Oxford to read Law with European Law. East Grinstead resident Tom Sullivan achieved an impressive 3 A* (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and will now pursue Mathematical Science at Bath. Deputy Head Boy Lewis Bell also achieved 3 A* (Business Studies, Media and Psychology). Lewis will be taking up a place at Exeter to study Management and Marketing with Industrial Experience.

Results in Maths were incredibly encouraging, with 100% of students achieving A* – B in the challenging Further Maths course. Creative Arts, including Art and Media, saw 100% of students achieving A* – B grades.

Mr Bool added:,‘All of our students should be very proud of their achievements. They have worked diligently and persistently and I look forward to them keeping in touch and hearing about their progress as they start their lives as confident, independent adults.’
