Young Slovenian cellist Helena Švigelj will play a wide repertoire of modern and classical pieces when she visits St Leonard’s Church, Chelsham, near Warlingham, on Saturday October 13 (2.30pm) as guest of the Friends of St Leonard’s.
The recital will be followed by tea, provided by Nancy Marsh. As always, there will be no charge but donations to the Friends of St Leonard’s will be gratefully received and contribute to the cost of maintaining the 13th century church.
Helena has won many international prizes, and as a soloist she has performed with Slovenian Philharmonics Orchestra, Orchestra of Royal conservatory of Mons (In Belgium and France), Orchestra de chambre de Wallonie and NOVA philharmonics.
She takes part in many young and professionals orchestras, such as Slovenian Philharmonics, SFK Orchestra, NOVA philharmonics, YES Camerata, Orchestra of Music Academy in Ljubljana and The Royal Conservatory of Mons Orchestra.
Currently Helena is part of the Nimy Quartet where they explore the repertoire of 20th Century music, and cello duo, Duo Furioso with another young Slovenian cellist, Urška Horvat.
This summer she performed the Elgar Cello concerto with TL Symphony Orchestra and Jessica Cottis conducting in Cadogan Hall, London.
