BBC Breakfast viewers were given an insight into the remarkable progress former Bucks Fizz singer Jay Aston of Tatsfield is making since her operation for mouth cancer.
Fifty seven year old Eurovision Song Contest winner Jay had to endure a lengthy operation to remove part of her tongue and then a piece of her thigh was grafted into her mouth.
At first it was thought the procedure would put an end to Jay’s singing career – since Bucks Fizz she has been performing with Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan as the Fizz- but she has taken incredible strides forward. She has put in a brief appearance with the Fizz and is now looking forward to the release of the Fizz Christmas album.
Jay told BBC viewers about her experience with cancer and how she is looking forward to continuing singing – “it’s my life” said Jay who lives in Tatsfield with her guitarist husband Dave and daughter.
