Teenagers arrested after chase by police

Two teenage boys have been arrested following a chase by police that started in Edenbridge.

At around 10.15pm on Wednesday 31 October Kent Police received a report that a burglary was in progress in the Mount St Aignan Way area of Edenbridge.

Officers attended the area and became suspicious of a silver car, which was reported to have driven away at speed upon seeing a police car.

The vehicle then failed to stop when requested to do so and a pursuit was authorised, with support provided by the National Police Air Service.

The suspect vehicle was brought to a controlled stop in Ray Lane near Lingfield at around 10.45pm, where two occupants of the vehicle are then reported to have attempted to make off on foot.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested close to the scene following a short foot pursuit, with assistance provided by Kent Police’s dog unit.

One of the boys is from Edenbridge and the other East Grinstead.

They were arrested in connection with the pursuit and remain in custody as enquiries continue.
