WE can’t seem to get through a week without hearing about some kind of data breach or security issue from one or more of the online data giants such as Google or Facebook.
Many of us are concerned about how and where we store our valuable data, such as photos and important documents. Generally your data is safe online with the likes of Google and Dropbox – but what if you have some really sensitive documents or data that you what to keep safe and secure offline? Sure you could buy a flash drive, these are affordable and the market is flooded with them. But what if you lost that flash drive or worse still it was stolen? Suddenly all that data is compromised.
Introducing the DatAshur personal 2 USB 3.0 flash drive from iStorage.
This compact sized flash drive offers rapid transfers speeds whilst maintaining full disk encryption. It does this through a clever little keypad on the front of the device. Once you have set your PIN on it the drive can only be unlocked by entering a personal PIN (7-15 digits in length). All the data that is then stored on the drive is automatically encrypted. So if you lose it or if it is stolen or tampered with you can at least know no one is getting to your data.
The model I have been using is the 32GB variety, but you can pick them up in 8GB, 16GB and 64GB capacities. I tested the flash drive on both Windows and MacOS and can report that it work flawlessly on both. The package included a helpful pocket guide explaining how to set up your own PIN. The instructions were simple and I had my own PIN on it within minutes.
As John Michael, the CEO of iStorage told the Gazette; “encryption isn’t just for the tech-savvy. Personal data such as financial documents, passwords and family photographs are precious and consumers should be as aware as businesses when it comes to to keeping data safe”.
Overall, I was impressed. The DatAshur was simple to setup and very easy to use. So if you are looking for a very safe way to secure all your personal documents and photos – then the DatAshur personal 2 USB 3.0 flash drive is the product for you.
