Estates staff from Lingfield Park Resort have gained national recognition after winning a coveted award at the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) annual industry awards.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year’s sell-out event at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole recognised leadership, innovation and outstanding achievement across every aspect of groundscare – from grassroots pitches to professional stadia.

The Lingfield staff were recognised for their commitment to the racecourse by winning the ‘John Deere Professional Horse Racing Grounds Team of the Year Award’.

The evening celebrated the quality standards of groundscare achieved in public and private sports venues, and highlighted the progress of young/student grounds professionals as well as entrants’ environmental considerations.

George Hill, who leads the estates team at Lingfield Park Resort, said: ‘The team works tirelessly, through all seasons come rain or shine. As one of the busiest racecourses in Europe with more than 80 fixtures a year, there is very little rest, which is what makes this award truly worthwhile.’
