One of the Tandridge District’s most popular vets, South African born Nico Maritz is packing his bags for Australia in the new year.
Nico, who lives with his wife and children in South Godstone, first came to the area with The Tanhouse Veterinary clinic in Hurst Green where he eventually became partner.
But Nico, author of specialist animal books as well as a super natural novel, launched his own practice 16 years ago, the Blackberry Veterinary Clinic on the outskirts of Lingfield.
Local journalist Kevin Black planted a tree to officially open the facility.
The practice began with two vets and two nurses – now there is a staff of 12 and 6,000 pets registered .
